If 2.5" cat-back is too loud, will putting back on the resinator(sp.?) help?

When I decided to get my cat-back done, I told my local muffler shop I wanted the quietest, best performing muffler. He recommended the DynoMax Super Turbo. Fine. He said go with 2.5" piping instead of 3". Fine. He said let's first try it without the resinator and if it is too loud we can always put it on later. He suggested to work backwards like this and that sounded o.k. with me. Well, here is my dilema. I DO think it's too loud! But if I buy the resinator and it doesn't solve my problem, it's not like I can return it! So my question for you guys is do you think my system will get a lot quieter if I put back on my resinator? If so, do I simply use my stock one or is an after market/performance one better? If so, which brand? Lastly, does having a resinator really rob the car of much power? Thanks so much guys.

hmmm
I have the stillen y-pipe, courtesy B-pipe (resonated) with a 5th gen muffler. I think it's as loud as I'd like it. It has a nice deeper sound, but isn't much louder than stock. I think the stock muffler does a lot as far as muffling goes. Besides, the muffler is huge...it better do it's job. The courtesy b-pipe has a resonator, but it looks pretty straight and non-restrictive. I've heard the stillen (without a resonator) isn't much louder at all than the courtesy. To answer your question, I think the muffler is most important piece in quieting the ride.
