Can anyone provide me with some detailed VQ30DE specs?

Here's a list of what I need...
Intake valve sizes:
Intake valve lift:
Exhaust valve sizes:
Exhaust valve lift:
Induction flow:
Induction flow pressure:
Lifter type (roller or flat tappet):
IVO BTDC:
EVO BBDC:
IVC ABDC:
EVC ATDC:

I want to do a little CFD and I don't have these specs and can't find them online, please help me out if you can!

I can't believe no one has this information... isn't this sort of thing in the FSM someplace?

I've got some ideas for the VQ that I need to CFD out, and I can't without these numbers, so please help me out if you can!

Get a FSM

Mostly all the info besides the induction flow is found in the factory service manual. So if you don't have one goto your local dealer and buy one. The info is in the S.D.S of the Engine Mechanical chapter.

My FSM has decided to disappear someplace, and I don't have the money to replace it right now, otherwise I would have just looked it up myself.

In the time it took you to look up what chapter the information was in and make a snotty post, you could have just posted the specs.

Re: Re: Get a FSM

There is only one problem though. I don't have a FSM for a 4th gen maxima. THe only FSM I have is for my 1991 sentra and 90 300zx. I'm sure anyone with a 4th gen manual would be more than willing to post the info .

Sorry I kinda went off last night, I need these numbers ASAP so I can take advantage of some idle time this weekend to do the modeling. I miss my FSM.

Come on here, somebody? I know there's got to be 500 FSMs floating around this place.

Let me put you out of your misery

I'm not going to be much help to you since I'm fairly unfamiliar with engine internals. I do have Haynes, however, and can offer some (?) help.

  • Camshaft endplay = 0.0045 to 0.0074 inch
  • Valve clearance (cold) = 0.010 to 0.013 inch (intake), 0.011 to 0.015 inch (exhaust)
  • Valve stem diameter = 0.02348 to 0.2354 inch (intake), 0.2341 to 0.2346 inch (exhaust)
  • Valve margin = 0.0374 to 0.0492 inch (intake), 0.0531 to 0.0650 inch (exhaust), 0.020 inch (minimum service limit)
  • Valve spring free length = 1.86476 inch
  • Valve spring out-of-square limit = 0.079 inch
  • Valve stem-to-guide clearance = 0.0008 to 0.0021 inch (intake), 0.0016 to 0.0029 inch (exhaust), 0.0031 inch (maximum service limit, intake), 0.0040 inch (maximum service limit, exhaust)
  • Valve lifter outside diameter = 1.3764 to 1.3770 inch
  • Valve lifter guide inside diameter = 1.3780 to 1.3788 inch
  • Valve lifter-to-guide clearance = 0.0010 to 0.0024 inch
Hope this helps answer at least some of your questions. Haynes also has specifications for the camshaft, engine block, cylinder head, pistons and rings, and crankshaft. I'd be happy to supply you with these data, or you might want to purchase a copy of this manual at your local Barnes & Noble.
