Installed the Y-pipe today, and it sounds great; a nice V8-sounding rumble. However, when I did a few quick revs of the engine while it was still up on jacks I noticed that the engine seemed to hesitate when returning to idle and was accompanied by a kind of paper-flapping sound. Any ideas?

Also I have not noticed any significant power gains, although I haven't really gotten the chance yet to see what she'll do now. Where do these mythical 15-25 hp come in the rev range?

Also, should I reset the engine computer even though the check engine light did not come on? Thanx

The power gains come from about 3200-3500 rpms on up to redline. I dont know what the paper flapping sound is, is it a high pitch noise that is kindof "ricy"?

hey sleeper

yeah, reset the ecu. even if it doesnt throw a code, it might not recognise the additional flow. also give it a week or so to "break-in." after my first week or so, the wierd noises went away, the power was there, and i was good to go.

Paper-flapping sound = exhaust leak???
That's the way they sound to me...

The car should feel like 500lbs lighter right off the bat. That's what I felt when I swapped out mine. I also disconnected the battery the whole time I was working on it.
