Turbo or the lack there off
To the best of my knowledge there is no official turbo kit for the Maxima. You can (people have) retrofit stuff from a 300ZX (engines are similar) to a VQ and there you go but the issue is the aluminum block in the car. As far as I know it has not been very successfull.
Basically the supercharger is the recomended bolt on charger for the max. People do turbocharge the 3rd gens succesfully but not the VQs.
Anybody else know something I don't...
On second thought do not answer that.

RE: Maxima Turbo-charger
As I recall being discussed some time ago, there is a turbo-charger produced specifically for the Maxima. There was a large amount of hype for its production, but as news of the 5th gens came it out it faded into the background. A few (maybe only 1) were made at the cost of $10,000. I believe if you call the company today they will still make one for you at this ridiculous price. Sorry I don't know the company's name, but its out there somewhere, and the die-hard 4th gen Maxima fanatics can tell you call about it. Just trying to help

1 909 869 6282... The place is called Project Import in Pomona, CA... I believe the owners name is chad... I was talking to him and he said that he can put a one turbo in the front and one turbo at the back bottom of the engine... He quoted a price for about 3500... Not too sure about the price... Tell him that the James, the guy with the white 96 max sent ya?

3500 for a TwinTurbo Max??? pardon me.. .. .. .. .. .... ..HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHHAHHHAHAHAA.
i HIGHLY doubt they could do a decent SINGLE turbo setup for the Max for 3500. no offense, and i dont want to start flame wars, but if it looks too good to be true, it prolly is. Juss like Superchargers for $700. My single turbo setup cost me more then 3500 and i was hooked up big time.
