today i removed the parts to be powder coated. air shuttle tubes, fstb end brackets, radiator brackets, and 2 other engine component brackets. so tomorrow i will take them to the shop, and wait 8 or 9 days to be ready. while waiting, i will carpet the trunk, and do the battery relocation. and clean that dirty engine. with all that stuff off i can see. i am going to remove the valve cover and polish it too. and so on...peace out.

mods update

tonite after work i routed the postive battery cable from the trunk area where the battery is going to be, through the back seat area under the carpet, down the drivers side and through the fire wall. i removed the stock positive battery cable, and connected the new one to the starter. tomorrow i will remove the negative cable. and install the new one in the trunk area. it went pretty smooth, except for when i had to put the cable through the fire wall, i already have a vacuum line and the alarm wire going through there. so i had to remove them to get the cable through. then put them back through. but the hard part is done. 10 more days to nitrous install. peace out, and have a good nites sleep. sleeper

project update

tonite after work , i removed the stock negative battery cable, and the battery tray. then i began to reorganize the rest of the wires, fuse box, etc. and remount the coolant container. i will have to get one of those polished containers now for the coolant. i must say there is a lot of room there, it will be easy to change the tranny fluid now. lol. then i mounted the new negative battery cable in the trunk. i started to carpet the trunk area after that, with the new black carpet. i did the back and the sides. just spray 3m adhesive to the trunk area and carpet, let get tacky and boy, that stuff it great to work with. it just stuck to the sides like a magnet. it also was very plyable to apply around the curves and uneven areas. and it looks awesome. i was impressed with how easy that was to do. well, tomorrow i will finish the rest of the carpet. and install the the new battery box. and maybe wash that dirty engine. peace out.

project work tonite

well tonite i continued with the carpet install, i completed the sides, and half way down into the spare tire area. i am going to spray paint the plastic trim piece that is at the opening area of the trunk, black satin, it is grey now. i still have to cover the platfom area, and the sub box. then i moved onto the battery box. i had to cut 2 3/4" pieces of plywood to fit the inside of the box exactly. that brings the battery to the top of the box. the bottom of the optima batteries have 4 slots to secure the battery down, so i screwed the battery down onto the top piece of plywood, to secure it. tomorrow i will cover the platform, then install the battery box onto the platform. it looks great i think to look in there now. i was also thinking, that it would be easy to apply this stufff,(black carpet), to the interior carpet. since black carpet is not available at a reasonable price. i can get a piece of this stuff for 15$ for a 10 x 4 1/2 ft piece. then just buy new black floor mats, for the front and back. but that will be done when i get the new front black seats, and trim the rear seat in black leather. not for a little while. well i'm tired, peace out.

sunday nite work

i cleaned the engine bay area tonite. i just used a 1.39 can of foamy brite cleaner from pep boys. just spray on, let sit for 5 minutes and then hose off. i did this 2-3 times. then wiped every thing off. looks pretty clean now. that was easy. except it was pretty hot out, and i was sweating up a storm. i am going to let my buddy do the sub box since that is his expertise. also i ordered a braided ground strap from summit racing today, it is 14" long, and cost 4.99. later. peace out.

Sleeper,
If you can't get your hands on a digital camera, take some pics with a regualr camera and get them scanned. If you mail them to me, I'd be happy to scan them and mail them back to you.

I did the battery relocation write-up a while back and sent them to 4-5 org members for posting. If you have any questions, let me know.

Keep up the good work!

tuesdays work

today i covered my sub box, black. to match the trunk carpet. i removed the sub and terminals, then ripped the grey cover off. cut a piece of black covering to fit and glued it on. then screwed everything back together. it turned out great. i was going to let my bud do it for me, except he was busy today, so i did it myself. friday i am getting the nitrous installed. i am thinking about getting a purge kit installed while they are at it. peace out, sleeper.

wednesday's mods

well tonite, i went outside and opened the trunk up and removed the trunk lid liner. i popped out the plugs and removed it. then i layed it down on the ground and sprayed it with that adhesive, and let it set a bit. then i layed a piece of black covering on top of it. and pressed it on tight. i waited a few minutes and then i trimmed the covering to fit the trunk liner perfect. then i primed and painted the plugs black. tomorrow i will put it back together. then the entire trunk area will be black. peace out. sleeper

Powder paint system uses electric so the part is grounded and the spray is positive, paint sticks to the part, then thru an oven to cure. overspray is swept up and recycled. Much less waste as opposed to solvent oversray that's lost. We have a booth at my work. All conveyer, big system, to paint sheetmetal enclosures. Suppose you can get diff materials to give extra hard coating. It does give a thicker finish in one pass, extra thick one the edges.

Let me see if I got it

So basicly it makes the parts stronger by coating it? To make it less likely for weaker parts to brake?

fridays mods

the nitrous kit is in, using a 55 shot. i have 65 and 75 shot jets also. it looks cool, dude. i didn't have time to try it out today. just enough to get it all finished and fill up the bottle. i just have the basic set up right now. no heater, bottle opener, purge kit, etc., i'll get that stuff later on too. so everything that i started out to do is finished, battery relocation, carpet trunk, powder coat some engine parts, and nitrous install. man that was fun. i'll probably re-do the interior next, racing style. peace out, sleeper.

just drilled a hole through the supercharger air shuttle tube, about 12" from the throttle body, the curved tube before the throttle body.
