I removed the black piece that is screwed down to the car behind the gas pedal. I feel i can press it down more and that i have a little more pickup. any ideas if this is bad, i dont want to snap a cable or anything, but i think it actually made my max faster. Its a 96gle with 33k.

I don't know all about what you're talking about...but I'd just like to compliment you on the fact that you have a 5 year old car with 33,000 miles on it. I'm impressed. My car is one year older with 100,000 miles more than yours. As for the black thing...I'll keep an eye out on this post. If it works, I may do mine like that.

If your throttle cable is properly adjusted you get Wide Open Throttle as your gas pedal touches this black plastic stop. Removing the stop won't help. You can't get more than 100%, by definition.
If your throttle cable is not properly adjusted, then adjust it.

All you are doing is stretching out the throttle cable. The throttle blade in the throttle body opens to directly horizontal. It won't open any farther. If it did, all it would do is start reducing incoming air, just like letting off the gas. Think about it fellas. Put the stop back in or you're gonna be looking a very expensive repair bill for a snapped throttle cable.
