I'm replacing my Warpspeed Y-pipe. I'm most likely getting the Cattman but I wanted to know how many people have had problems with the flex section?
Also, has anyone had a problem with the stillen Y-pipe?

Cattman or Stillen - price is not the issue, I just want a quality Y-pipe that works and doesn't make tons of noise.

**and yes I did a search, but I want a straight comparison of the two Y-pipes**

i have the stillen 2piece ypipe(bought it used)
it makes a BZZZZZZ sound after 3.5k rpms if i revv.
below that it wont make any noise.
also i got the ypipe b4 i got an intake. and i seriously didnt FEEL much power gain. but after i got a CAI, the power was insane after 3k, i literally felt my car jump.

cant speak for a cattman ypipe..i think BrianV has one though..and i cant hear it...so its quiet i guess..

Stillen y-pipe

I have had the stillen 2 piece y-pipe for about a month now and have had no problems with it. The fit was right on and there is no hissing sound, it makes the exhaust note a little deeper. The power gain was very noticeable, especialy after 3K rpm's.

The Cattman Y-pipe is great. My Stillen intake and GReddy cat-back system complement it well. On a casual cruise, it makes a nice, low rumble. At WOT and/or downshifts, that baby just WAILS. And no buzzzzzzzzing.

Left-lane bandits? Just pull up behind them and throw-on a down-shift. Bingo! On comes the right turn signal, and over to the right they go. I'm 100 yards in front of them before they can finish saying Holy She-!t. See ya...

I've had the WSP y-pipe for a little over 3 months now. The hissing is still there even with the header wrap but not as annoying without it. WSP came out w/ a retrofit ($40) to eliminate the hissing problem but you have to fork out the extra dough to get a shop to do it for you. I don't know if anyone has actually done the retrofit yet, but I'm curious to find out if WSP's claim is true. As far as quality goes, the only rusts I see from the pipe are from the welds.

I have the Stillen 1 piece Y and I have no problems with it. I'm told that the stillen one is the lowest sounding one, but I wasnt impressed by it before I had my cat-back put on.

My problem is with the new flex section. My pipe had a leaking flex, so I bought the "upgraded" flex section, hoping to make it quieter. It is definately quieter, but now my car runs hard. I can see the flex section expand and contract on itself. It's much worse than the previous annoying, hissing leak.

Why are you selling the WSP y-pipe? I love mine. I can not hear a bees in a can sound until about 5k rpm and still it is not very loud at all. I am very satisfied with it. it sounds to me like every one has problem with the sound.(just sbout)

I'm selling cause of the problems that I've encountered with my flex section and the service that I received. I'm pretty sure that Warpspeed has since corrected the issue with the flex sections, but I was one of the early ones to buy a fourth gen Y-pipe.

I'm glad to hear that you've had a positive experience. I've just decided to move to Cattman and save myself some anguish.

I had mine installed for 75.00. It was worth it to me since I have a 95 and figured that the bolts would be mightly rusty. So I let my mechanic deal with it. Moral of the story. I can be done at home. But depending on how much grief vs $$$ means to you. If you do go for it a home invest in liquid wrench.

I have the Budget y-pipe. With a no muffler/straight pipe setup, buzzing/hissing was apparent under hard throttle, as well as a drone during cruise. With the stock muffler back in place, not much perceptible increase in noise, and no hissing no buzzing.

I like mine more now I used header wrap on the flex section. It was only two days on before I wrapped it at lunch today and I was almost ready to get rid of it before the wrap.. I just wasn't willing to put up with anymore annoying noises from unknown sources and the other annoying noise from a known source (my wife).

I now have a hole in the flex section of my Cattman S/S pipe. up til last week it was silent...but now it's VERY loud. I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem...so I know it's very rare.....why do I always have stuff like this happen to me?!?!?

That's the same problem I had with my warpspeed, but it came with a leak in it.
I'm getting a Cattman, hopefully it won't happen again.

Mine doesn't hiss....it's actually a hole that you can see, the S/S braided threads on the flex section broke and have formed a small hole...and it's VERY loud...even when Idling. I know this is very rare....so I don't want to steer you away from a Cattman pipe. They are great. Almost no sound difference at all from stock. Plus the customer service is awesome. I'm sending my pipe to Brian Catts, and he's getting a new flex section put on and sending it back for free.
