I am looking into putting a new suspension onto my 97 Max, eventually to add 18" wheels also. I am looking for a ride that isn't too bouncy and handles well.

I already have Stillen FSTB, RSTB, RSB. I want to replace springs, shocks with some that will look good and ride well w/ 18" wheels.

What's the best spring/shock combination out there for my application?

thanx
ryan

Read the FAQs, here on Maxima.org or on other sites.

Lowering is one of the key issues. Drop it 1.5" and you can still be comfortable, drop it 3" or more and you're guaranteed to either bottom out (very painful) every other bump, or you'll be running a VERY stiff, unforgiving suspension setup.

People here who want to go low seem to do Sprint springs (2" or 2.25 drop in front, not quite as low in back) and Koni shocks. The only constant is that you must do Koni shocks, because Tokicos are too soft. (you buy Tokicos, expect to replace your shocks within 10,000 miles. You keep stock, expect to replace your shocks in even less than 10,000 miles before ride becomes unacceptable). I prefer Eibach/Koni or Cattman coilovers, personally.

im in it for the sprints, he is correct about the tokicos, you could get konis, but i am looking at the less well known kyb-gr2's they are supposed to be good and cost about the same as the tokicos

I just purchased Sprints because I wanted a sportier ride and the lower drop. I hear a lot of members complaining that the H&Rs and Eibach just are not enough drop. I probably will go with the KYB Struts when I find the $$$.
