i saw that website when i was looking for shifter for my 4th gen too... they look nice, but not the style that I was looking for... what is the interior color of your max? it also depends on what type of look you're going for.... I ended up getting a momo... they just look smooth and have a comfortable grip...
as far as the shifter, it's threaded... it's on there with some kind of light adhesive, but if you wrap a towel around the existing shiftknob and uses pliers, twist, and it comes right off!
happy hunting!
