Ive seen so many maximas with the rear changed to a 97/98/99 style here in queens, nyc. How is this done? 3 weeks ago some ahole hit me in the back when he ran a red light, so i'm thinking of just changing the rear. i'm wondering whether you would just have to change the trunk top and the lights, it looks like it might fit, but i don tkow for sure. Any ideas? Unless all of the maximas ive seen changed their front to 96 style i know it can be done.
Hmmm...
I have yet to see this done myself. I, myself, am changing my rear bumper from '95/'96 to '97/'99 (simply so I can get the rear Stillen ground effects) but it seems like you are talking about changing the trunk lid as well. I would look into it more but my educated guess is yes, it can be done. You will need: a '97/'99 trunk lid/taillights and a '97/'99 rear bumper cover (actually you won't NEED the bumper cover, a '95/'96 will work). Good luck.

I to am converting my rear end to a 97-99. The main purpose I am doing this is so I can get the Stillen ground effects for the rear and also my current bumper needs replaced anyways. Also, the rear lights for the 97-99 are MUCH MUCH better looking than the 95-96. I have been quoted 150.00 for the rear bumper cover and 325.00 for a new trunk lid. I think that I am going to hunt around in the junk yards for a used trunk lid. 325.00 is too much. Good luck.
It's totally up to you...

I actually prefer the '95/'96 rear bumper cover as it is shorter (cleaner look) and that lame line that runs across it is not as deep as the '97/'99 (cleaner look). However, I HATE the rear '95/'96 Stillen ground effects. Thus my reason for getting a '97/'99 rear bumper cover. Also, if you go to the '97/'99 I beleive your exhaust tip will now be an inch back, you may have to/want to extend it an inch. You have to weigh everything and choose according to your preferences. Good luck.
Is there an echo in here?!

Re: Is there an echo in here?!
whats the point of a 97 trunk lid and lights?
a. u cant get altezzas
b. the bumper cover is all that you need for the ground effects, the rest is a waste of very usable money
c. the sarona bumper could be another sportier option

What about the rear quarter panels, they want match if you just chabng the trunk lid. The 97 to 99 doesnt have as much of that rounded ridge as the 95-96's so it would match that well.
