Stupid question, but are you sure you have your dimmer turned all the way up!?

Mine are plenty bright.

Otherwise, have you considered Indiglos?

You can get 6-color digital Indiglos for $62 on ebay.

Try hyperwhite #194s... although in a 97 ... I'm not sure if they're 194s.

Now this sounds like something that i wanna try...
But, has anyone done this.. can it cause my wires to burn out, melt anything... or any electrical problems...

I have hyperwhites in my 95 Max gauges. A little brighter. And no problems yet.

I've five 168 18W Hyper-bulbs on my gauge.
I would say it's about 3~4 times brighter than the stock 3W bulbs.
Heck! my gauge is even brighter than mah mom's brand new Lexus.
It's so bright you don't even have to turn on the interior light in order to see your face on the mirror!
I've tried regular 168 from Walmart but they're trash so I end up spending $40 for set of 18W bulbs..

I changed mine out too... I put one of the middle ones and the right one with a red bulb... and then the other three with a hyper white bulb... i think it looks nice like that... you can get hyper white wedge bulbs for 7 dollars a pair... i had mine for about 6 months...
