I bought new spark plugs for my 98 GXE wth 52k miles. I figure I might as well do this now, and not later since I have the time and money.

I bought replacements from a Nissan Dealer, but with a colder heat range since I am going the NOS route.

I bought the part# PFR7G-11. I know stock is 5G. 2 Ranges colder is safe for the NOS setup isn't it?

I am going to take the first knowledgable response, then install them tonight.

You don't need the # 7 heat range. The #6 is fine. For every 100 hp increase you want to go colder one step. Unless you're doing a 200 shot, there's no need for the #7s

Hey Phuong,

I know that I will need new colder plugs as well for my supercharger. Should I get them and install them before and after the supercharger installation?

Phuong, I talked to a friend of mine at a Nissan Dealer, and he said they'd be fine, so I installed them last night and noticed a heck of a difference. My plugs were shot, and the new ones felt like the car was new again.

Anything above 7 wouldn't be good even with NOS or an S/C.

Maximus - the problem with colder plugs is that they take longer to reach normal operating temperatures, so they generally foul quicker unless you take long drives to work. If they foul again (which they will eventually), go with the #6 the next time (is stock #5? For some reason I thought they were #6). Word of advice - don't take advice from a dealer LOL

Jung - no, you can stick with the stock heat range. With those mods you won't be pushing 100+ hp.

cumalot - install the colder plugs at the same time as the SC install or a few days before.

Stock NGK plugs are the 5s, they are the ones with the R on them.

Well the 7's are in, and since I found a nice 98 SE 5 Speed in a black color today, I doubt I will keep the car to see the plugs foul. If they do foul before hand, I am gunna head to the dealer and have a talk with him.

He posts here. His name is David. I think he has a 5th Gen.

The PFR7G-11's were what I ran in my 93 Prelude VTEC with a seriously built motor. Even then they started fouling at about 7K+ miles. They were one step colder for that car.

I would think that two steps colder would foul out rather quickly.
