When do I need to change it? A friend told me that I should consider changing my timing belt before I install the supercharger. However, I only have around 45k miles on my '96. So, is this necessary now? Should I just change it now, so I don't have to go through the process of taking the supercharger out later on when I need to do this? Thanks.

Your friend is misinformed. All '95-up Maximas have a timing chain, not a belt. Timing belts wear out and should be replaced on a scheduled basis. Timing chains are durable and rarely need replacement.

I had some doubts because I hardly heard of any Maxima owners having any timing "belts" problem. That's why I asked. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
