It really depends where you live,....

but I'm 19 too and live in NJ and I pay $3500 / year for just liability. I also have I think 11 points and a DWI. So don't drink and drive, or you'll buy a new set of 22" rims every year but never get to roll on em.

To answer your question better I dont think your insurance will go up too much except that you need full coverage on a vehicle that you are financing until it is payed for fully.

Rural area.
Safe driver discount.
Multi-car discount.
Large deductible on the collision coverage.

I shopped around to find the lowest premium. In my case it was State Farm. For a different driver or different town it might be some other company.

I

Damn, you guys are depressing me....

I just moved to Dallas and am going to buy a 1999 SE, I was looking around at insurance. The first place I called was Farmers, they are who I had insurance through on my 86 maxima in Washington. I am 19 with one speeding ticket. They quoted me $3,459 for 6 months!!! Thats almost $3,000 more then what I was paying...

So I called every place in the area and Allstate quoted me $1,425 for 6 months. Still high but at least I can afford it. That is of course for full coverage.

With the way people drive in Dallas I can understand the higher rates

call

call several brokers and insurance companies (i.e. GEICO) and ask for the quote. Make sure you give them the right info when getting the quote or you'll get stuck with the higher premiums than the quate when they learn the truth.

I would dare to say that he's probably in Canada , but Dan would never tell... it's all about the car, as he puts it.

Yes, this forum is about the 4Gen Maxima, not about personalities. I treasure privacy and prefer not to divulge personal information. When pressed too hard I give the Lizard response. Some readers find the Lizard amusing, or frightening, or baffling.

Ok, Allstate cancelled my policy after like 5-7 days because they require you to be licensed 5 years and I have only been licensed 3 years.... but they failed to mention this when writing my policy!!! I only bought the car because I found them and their awesome deal on insurance. Now I have a $15k car that I can't drive because its uninsured!!!!

Been calling around for a week, the lowest rate I have found (for full coverage) was like $532 a month! That's twice as much as my car payment. Anyone have any ideas? I'm 19, one speeding ticket and I live in Dallas, TX. I don't understand why its so high... Even the agents can't offer me suggestions...I don't know what to do.

I can't sell my car and i have to have insurance.

Open up yellow pages and go through the list of brokers... that's pretty much all you can do. Also call up big places directly (Geico etc). But I would bet that your premiums would be around 3-4K/yr anyway. Or try insuring it in your parents' name.

My parents live 2,000 miles away, so there goes that option. I have called Farmers, State Farm, Gieco, progressive, Allstate, Nationwide, and the place that quoted me 532$ claimed they ran my quote through 20 companies and that rate was the lowest through progressive.

Nationwide quoted me low but then turned around and doubled it because my insurance has been lapsed for more then a month.... I moved out of state and was without a car and insurance for 2 months....

It all boils down to this:

1. How far is your commute to work or school.
2. Driving record
3. Age of driver.

These make up the biggest contributors --

But if you live in New Jersey, you are just plain out of luck.
Or also if you are still a teenager.

I'm in NJ, 38, clean record, pay $1100 full coverage. NJ has the highest insurance cost around. I think even NY is cheaper. Give AIG a call. They were the cheapest around after I did my shopping.
