I've been to two dealerships (nissan) that have told me that the computer in the 95GXE will not support OEM fogs, and will burn out. I'd really like to get OEM fogs for it, but I was wondering if anyone has preformed this mod specifically on a 95 (evidently it only applies the the first of the 4th gens...i.e. the 95's) Or anyone that knows anything about this.

If this is already posted, I did a search, but couldn't find it, and I apologize.

Thanks in advance!

That's BS. Tell them to order the kit for you anyway. Your car is pre-wired for them. All you have to do is cut out the holes in the bumper, mount the lamps and the new stalk, and plug n play.

Also, ask them to show you in the factory service manual exactly how the computer interfaces with the fog lights.

Also, if I were to get a 96+ front bumper cover (the non ugly ones ) would it fit on my car??

In case your wondering, I'm talking about the non rounded covers, unlike the ones that came with the 95

Hello Rooster286,
That is BS. As long as you have (I assume that it does)'95 GXE with the Convenience Package (included OEM alarm, Intermitment wipers and Power driver's seat...that's what I remember so far) or you can take a look at the wires to the front side markers and blinkers you will see it if it pre-wired, and then you can just get the kit at your local dealers to install it.... I hope this could help. BTW, I also have my done not too long ago though.

Maximas that have the security and convenience package have the wiring harnesses for the fogs built in. If you don't have the S&C package, then you're out of luck. The foglight kit from the dealer runs about $180, and is pretty easy to install once you cut the bumper indentation out (that's the hard part).

Yep, i have the S&C package!!!

Also have a buddy at the nissan dealer, so hopefully it'll be a bit cheaper. Does that include the mounting brackets for the lights also??

And does anyone know about the bumper cover?>?

Check with Courtesy Nissan @ www.courtesynissan.com and check the price they give you, might be better. The kit comes with everthing you need:
- New stalk
- Relay
- Fogs
- Mounting Brackets
- Bolts
- Guide (help cut out the hole in your bumper)

BTW the 96's have the same bumper style you do... you want a 97-99 bumper... and yes you can convert...

I have been looking to do this for a while now, and I cant seem to find those damn prewired wires, that are supposed to be taped somewhere, but I have no clue where to find them. I checked about 20 times and no luck finding them, oh and I have S&C Package.

I wanna convert

They should be right behind where the fog lights will go. I found mine taped up with a bunch of other wires against the bumper support.

Eric you are right that if have a Gxe with out the C&C you are **** out of luck. I found this the hard way {the kit was a gift from gf} Anyway I have a base stock 97 Gxe with the only option the auto tranny. I bought it uses for those who care. But you can still hook up the kit. The only thing that is not prewired on the stock max is the harness to the fog lamps. The harness for the switch is there and is the harness for the relay.
So what you do is you wire the fog lights as if they were aftermarket. You just connect the - of the two fogs together and ground them. Then you oconnect the + wires together and run them to the relay switch and simply slice in the the relay. Im sure not all of you care but someone may.
