Y-Pipe vibration in reverse?
#1
OK,
I just had my ypipe installed earlier this week, and it's GREAT! My only concern now is that when I shift into Reverse, the you can really hear the y-pipe GROWL and the steering wheel vibrates more than usual. Is this normal?

Iam having a vibration problem as well...I am leaning toward something with the y-pipe touching part of the body causing the vibration..but haven't had a chance to look yet
Not very helpful..just expressing that I had the same problem...

if it rattles, you can really tell by hearing it or feeling it. i had this problem but easily fixed if by bending the metal piece attached to the cat and the rubber hangers. it sort of looks like a bracket that's L-shaped. just bend the top part. i wished i had a picture to show what i'm talking about.

Thanks for your input.
I don't think it's a rattling effect so much, because it doesn't happen in Drive or any other gear for that matter. Just REVERSE.
I think I would have liked it better if I could get it to Growl while I'm driving along, but my CAI is much louder than the YPIPE.

What Y-pipe do you have?
I had the same issue and it was the bracket with the rubber hangers that is at the junction of the Y-pipe and Cat. If the bracket is to close to the car, it might hit the car.

The problem is the y-pipe is touching the middle cross member....adjust the y-pipe as stated below or adjust
the y-pipe its self....loosen the bolts to the exhaust manifold and the cat...then wedge something between the
y-pipe and the cross member and with it wedged in place
tighten all the bolts and your done...

im having the same damn problem still.. i installed an entire stillen exhaust.. the damn thing rattled in 3 places.. i had to remove the rear heat shield from under the car, use two hose clamps to keep the stillen ss muffler from swaying back and forth cause the brackets hit the car, and now its still rattleing under the car by the cat when the car is in gear and im at a stop.. $1,200 spent on something else to aggrivate me..
