I'm planning to buy an air intake for my newly purchased 97 MAX. Does anybody knows the difference between the JWT intake and the Stillen one? such as it's performance, it's size and the sound? The JWT is cheaper in general (i might be wrong), but the Stillen one looks better. Have a hard time to decide.
Thanks

They are the same performance wise. Pick money over looks.

I bought a generic "performance" cone air filter off ebay. It's made with k&n quality paper, covered with a steel screen. It is red/blue tip and looks GREAT. Unlike the STLILEN or JWT, it has a inversed funnel at the end instead of bein' closed up.

I bought it for 50 bucks. It gives me a nice V-8 girgle and around 3-5 horses. More when I add other parts. (All parts work together to produce more HP)

The JWT is ALMOST identical to the SI in size, looks, performance, and sound. The only difference is the bracket that each uses and that the stillen one says stillen on the chrome end part of the filter.

It looks 5x better in real life..bigger and better than the 3" hyper. www.projectimport.com is the company. Good luck, it's a great filter.

Sound

Most people say that the JWT and the Stillen sound identical but in my opinion the JWT has a lower growl than the Stillen. Im being extremely picky I know, but Ive heard a number of these intakes on different cars and I always thing the growl from the Stillen has a higher pitch for some reason.

The K&N cone filters alone like Stillen or JWT will give you
a few HP increase but with dramatically more induction noise on heavy throttle. You might like the sound or you might not like the sound -- also includes neighbors and cops.

Just look for all the inner diameters and flow paths of the intake components and you can start to tell where the real restrictions lie.

There are much more effective ways to improve the intake air flow aside from a loud cone filter.

I also have a hiper flow filter. I bought an intake adapter for it too for $15. I had to drill a new set of holes because the holes didnt line up.
