using rust inhibitors on small dings on my hood...suggestions please

I have several small dings on my hood that are beginning to rust. I really do NOT want to use the sand paper on them (they are really small) and then touch up paint. Has anyone ever used rust inhibitors? I am hoping that this would work. Any opinions?

Take a pin and clean out the "ding". Get it down to metal, make sure all the rust is out of the hole. Then just get some touch up paint and put a tiny dot over it. That will seal up the metal and your rust will not come back!
