I know some people disagree with this.

I also know some people are currently using this setup.

What lowering springs are you using with your factory struts, and what are the pros and cons?

Thanks!

I have factory struts with Intrax springs. Lowered my car about 1.75". Even when I first got it until now, the ride is quite harsh. I'm not really sure if having stock struts have anything to do with it. I am planning to get Koni struts later on. Maybe even replace the Intrax springs with H&R or Eibach springs; perhaps even get coilovers.

OEM stocks are not designed with enough travel to handle shorter springs. what you will get is a lot of bottoming out and very very bad damping over all. This will result in a harsh and nasty right. not to mention, once you decide to ot aftermarket shock, you will have to either 1) pay the labor again or 2) spend 3-4 hours doing it yourself again.

I went several months with lowering springs and the stock shocks and suffered with the rough ride. I was "bottoming out" regularly. I went with the Tokico shocks and they greatly improved the ride quality.

I have H@R springs with the stock struts for about a month now...

The ride is almost stock-like under normal conditions....it's only bottomed out once at about 3 times the speed limit with 4 people in the car over a huge dip in the road.....I'm happy with it for now...will upgrade to Konis when stock stuts die. My bro in law just lowered his integra 2 inches with his stock shocks and h@r race springs...his car has only 15000miles on it but it's super floaty/bouncy. Mine is nothing like that for now anyways.

i used to have intrax with stock shocks. i thought the ride was ok, but the thing that bothered me was how the rear end always sagged. the rear fender gap was about half an inch less than the front. so then i got some cattman coilovers.

i got h&rs with my stock struts..its bouncy like a ****..with my 17inch rims on...its REAL bouncy..my right front strut(pretty much useless) got so bad..i "think" its the cause of my rim getting bent(nothing 2 bad), anyways..im planning on getting konis..cuz tokicos wont last me(i drive everyday)..i heard they go bad in 6ks..thats like two months of driving for me

I DO!

I have Progress Technology Sport Springs 1.5" Drop with my stock struts. The ride is real good also I'm running the stock tire wheel size Enkei 15x6.5" on 205/65R15. I
got the springs from lightningmotorsports.com for $179.00 with free S&H. a real good deal to me. They are not the Eibachs,Intrax,Groundcontrols,or whatever but
I'm satisfied. I have seen an air bag kit for Maxs that lower fom 0-4" just like the coilovers. But my opinion Maxes do not look good dropped very low and you will bottom out every where. Just a nice 1.5" drop to reduce the big fender gap and maybe some big 17" or 18" rims to fill up the fender well. But the bigger the rim the smaller/stiffer the sidewall is so the ride will be harsher even without springs. Thats
why mine rides good is because I have the stock tire and rim size. But you sacrifice funtion for style.
