I have Stillen Y-pipe, B-pipe, and muffler and RT cat. When I start the car in the morning, it smokes. It looks like in the winter, when you see condensation, but it is smoke. Is this a normal thing with this exaust set-up? It seems to go away after the car warms up or I just don't notice it.

What does that have to do with anything? We don't even know the color of the smoke.

ok, but i'll tell you the color of mine the other day, it was oil blue, i had the oil changed a few days before. It was a big puff (for a max, it was noticable from the front of the car) when it first started, it did do the condensation steam thing out of the muffler for a few mins, then after a few mins when warmed up, nothing at all, even on the highway. (i was actually following my car after it started since i was moving into school, and had a couch in the cherokee, so i watched closely after it started)

It's from the front, it's probably just oil that's leaked from the filter or from the filler cap.

I change my oil every 3,000 miles. It has only been about 2,000 since I changed it. The smoke comes out of the exaust pipe white just like condensation, but I only notice while it is idleing in the morning warming up before I drive to work. I don't notice it once I am driving. Anyone else have this problem that you guys know of?

i've got the same situation. i don't think you're burning anything up. it's just the car warming up.

hmm

seals? they could be starting to go and leak a little during start up. But when you're moving the smoke would be mixed by the air disturbance caused by movement.
Compression test? anyone concur?

Does the exhaust smoke have a distinctive "sweet" odor? Has the engine been losing coolant? If the answers are both "yes" you may have an internal coolant leak.

I checked the smoke/condensation and it does smell kind of sweet. However, I did not notice a loss of coolant. Any thoughts?

I'm in the same boat. It won't even be cold, but everytime I warm up my car, it has that sweet exhaust smell. I hope someone knows what this is.

My Max (Cefiro) does the same. hasn't used any oil in 5000km, neither coolant. I guess it may be condensation in the exhaust. This is off the topic though, I think it may be interesting. I got a flat battery, so I rung the local garage and they come and jump start it. I didnt have timne to give it a run, so I left it running while I went and milked my cows. After 5 hours, I got back and gave it a rev to the red line, and about half a litre of black water spat out the back all over my garage door....

Ordinary condensation in the exhaust system is plain water which has no odor. When coolant is burned it has a sweet aroma.

I suggest you drive normally but check your coolant level every day or two. If it goes below the MIN level there is a problem which warrants careful diagnosis.

I've been checking my coolant and it never dipped below MIN. The smoke is very minimal but it is still there and still smells funny. Anyone else have any idea?
