my 95 5 spd SE, has an ugly shift bag, its black and stuff, but i was wondering if anyone has changed over to the german style where its softer and looser leather and the bag ends on TOP of the console, i dont like how mine clips under the plastic console thing, has anyone done that, and what is the best place to get shift boots from that will fit mine and look alright if i glue it on top of the plastic console, i hope u understand what i mean by this, i just think mine looks tacky cuz by bein clipped under it looks so small and stupid, thanks

Just get a Momo shift boot. Thats what i did, and if you have the money upgrade to a momo shift boot, and if you have more money just get a short shifter, LOL.

Heh...I'm behind you 100% on the shift boot. It's a little flimsy I think. The top where it meets the **** on my maxi is unraveled a bit, and seems like very light, flaky material. I'm not a big fan of the fact that it's not flush with the center console either - it's practically begging for dirt to get down there, and it's not very easy to clean. I think I remember seeing a members sig pic with a short-shifter & aftermarket boot that was flush with the center console, and very aesthetically pleasing. After I make my audio enhancements, I plan on doing something like this to remedy part of my shifting woes (after that, new clutch).

Yeah, our shift boots are really poor quality pleather. You can get an aftermarket universal one like Momo's but it'll still clip under the shifter surround. I haven't seen anyone mod it to be flush...?
