Does anyone know if it is better to bleed the brakes with the engine running providing power assist or with it off. I've got stainless steel lines on a 97 SE and they feel mushy. I've tried bleeding them with the engine off and was wondering if anyone had any input as to the best procedure using two people. Thanks

My guess is that it would be better to bleed

the brakes with the engine off. The instructions usually recommend that you "gently" depress the brake pedal, and this is more easily done without any power-boost from the engine running.

The best brake bleeding recommendation is to purchase an "Mighty Vac"! You could do a search or contact www.lockhartphillips.com . This makes this procedure a one man operation and is simple. I purchased mine for (I Think)$39.95 and have used this many times without any problems!
