My car makes a faint noise lke a bad CV joint, the popping. Thing is, it's not very loud and only happens under certain conditions.

It only happens when my foot's on the gas and the suspension is under compression. I happens going straight down the road when I hit a big dip. Or any kind of left turn. But, if I'm coasting, nothing happens.

It would always happen if I was going slightly uphill around a left turn. It would not happen going around a slightly downhill left turn. It would not happen under any kind of right turn.

CV joint? Other possibilities? These CV axles and joints only have about 35000 miles on them.

After checking the boots, check the nuts for the front suspension, one could be slightly loose, allowing the strut to move slightly. There are also rubber grommets in the strut mount, there could have no rubber on a small part and that may be the banging you hear.
