I have a 98 SE and I have already installed the front and rear strut tower braces. My question is what springs to buy. I want to lower it because I am getting 17's, but my dad has to drive it too. I want a cool stance but not a rough ride. If it is just an Inch, as compared to 1.7 or whatever, that would be okay. I have heard some great things about the ground control kit because it has Eibachs, I could raise it for my dad, and lower it for me. Any help would be apprechiated!!!! Email if you can, at a96tahoe@aol.com. I am at SFASU, and our Network isn't always swinging.....

First question, what are you going to use to dampen these new lowering springs? You should always replace the stockers with an aftermarket performance type, that will inevitably make the ride a bit firmer. The springs you probably want are the H&R's, they are a bit stiffer than stock but the most comfortable. People would not suggest Ground Controls b/c they are very stiff, but are better performance wise if you have the proper struts/shocks

Get H&Rs. Your dad probably won't like Eibachs.

Sprints...

I think you would like Sprints (the're not as harsh as people say), but your dad probably won't do to well. They lower 2.0" front & rear, it looks awesome. More road feel (not too bad!!!) and MUCH improved handling due to lower COG. Maybe H&Rs (a little firmer than stock) will fulfill your needs...

My eibachs are nice.....

....I couldn't be happier with the drop. I sit way way lower than any stock max, especially one on 18's. The ride is a bit harsh in the front especially, but I haven't had the chance to get used to them yet, they are about a week old.

Just so you know 18's do not matter on how high/low it sits.....when you went to the 18" wheel....you had to get a lower profile tire, which means that the 18" wheel and tire is the exact same size as you stock...

I just got 18's and when i took my stock wheels off i rolled them next to each other...and they were the SAME size....

NO, wrong again....your car isn't jacked up higher....you have less tire now and more wheel...which in turn creates an optical illusion which makes it look like it sits hire...when really it isn't just your eyes playing tricks on you......

OK.....i have sprints...there really not as harsh as everyone seems to think...but in the case that you will be sharing w/you dad..i would go w/H&R's....not as low of a drop as the sprints..but definetly a more "stock like" ride to them..

ok...

Ok, well Pawn's right...unless you specificallyask for the next size up tires, your new rim/tires are gonna be the same as stock. That's the whole purpose behind low profiles.

Because this is a spring post...

I just thought I would let everyone know that I have been on Sprints with STOCK Nissan struts for over 1 month now. I have had NO problems, and I do corner with speed. They do ride harsh, but not as much as I was told. I figure if I'm going to put in performance struts, I might as well see how long the stock ones can hold up (they have no resale value anyways). I'll let you know when they start to give way, but there's NO sign of this so far...and keep in mind Sprints are supposed to be the harshed springs and my car has over 53k miles. No problems.

the only thing that sucks w/that is that when you finally do replace the stockers....you have to remove it all over again...but hey...whatever floats your boat.....

i say h&R's but depends on how old your dad is; i find h&r's even a much stiffer/rougher ride that stockers. go with 17's and you'll get a little smoother ride than with 18's
