hey what's up everybody........i'm about too purchase ground-control coilovers and i'm gonna use my new koni sports (yellows)with them. think i should go for the ground-controls or different coilovers for my 99 Max? just wanted some opinions. thanx.

 

hey sup? i own a 99 max too and i'm about to purchase some ground control coilovers as well. i've been debating myself over ground control or cattman... it's $1800 for cattman, and around $500 for ground control. but yea, ground control with koni yellows are a good combo. you can use your stock struts, but i'd use the koni. well, i hope i helped a little...

you should ask ming about the cattmans.. haha, i think he went through 2 sets of them already.. pretty crappy if you ask me, and the weapon r's i have heard cant take the shear weight of the car, heard some stories here and there.. GC's are good..

before you pay 500 for em look on ebay.. i saw some last week that sold for 250 brand new in box.. so look around.. ask shops and whatnot.. 500 sounds like too much for me.

 

Definitely Ground Controls if you want a good set for a good price , but i heard that the cattmans were the best, i wouldnt pay 1800 bucks for them , but i heard they were good. The weapon Rs are bad news , the company is really a honda company , so what was said about them not handling the weight was probably true. Id go with ground control personaly , they use Eibach springs so combined with koni yellows , youll have a ride you can be very confident in.

 

Again, dont get them! The front spring rate is WAY to high! With my Koni yellows to the fullest damping(360 degree turn from full soft) it couldnt even hande them nearly as well when comparing it to my Eibach Pro-kit(now have them instead) with the Koni only set to 1/4 turn from full soft. And the Weapon-R rears are too soft, softer then the Pro-kit rears. I'm assuming that they didnt do enought research when designing the spring rates for our car. As you know, having the rears a little stiffer then the fronts helps minimize understeer, which front wheel drive cars are known to have.

 

Ground Controls are $395 directly from GC.

If you plan to get the coilovers, i suggest you getting some stiff struts/shocks. THe Konis would be a great setup. Right now i have the GC's w/ Tokico's. I have the stiffest rated spring(Eibach) for the GC's. The ride is very very bumpy but the handling is great. If you plan on dropping the front more then 1.75" you will need camber plates, not bolts. I am dropped 2.5" up front & about 2.25" in the rear.
