Maxima to GS400 CONVERSION!

Hey, I was wondering what everyone thought of doing a headlight conversion, and taking out the ugly Maxima headlights and putting the 2 oval headlights from a Lexus GS in it's place. Can anyone possibly photoshop in a pic, or make something so I can get an idea. Thanks in advice for your comments...

Also, please do not tell me it can not be done. I've consulted a body shop and they've already gave me a price, and said it is 100% do-able. FYI: It will take 6 days and cost $450 for labor.

Yeah, I think it would be cool, plus that's a big A+ on originality (in my opinion), but I'd still like to see a photoshop of what it would look like before I go around molding my car

Re: Maxima to GS400 CONVERSION!

Only $450? That's cheap considering they'd have to rework your bumper, hood, and make custom brackets to fit the headlights. Definitely doable though, I've seen it on a Civic. I don't know if the GS headlights go with a Maxima though, they're rather tall and the maxima front end isn't that tall. I hope the shop is a friend of yours or something if it's only $450. 6 days of labor is a lot more than $450, most shops charge $30 an hour for body work. $1K is the number most shops throw out when talking about headlight conversions. But if they say they'll do it, go for it.

Yeah, it's a friend of mine. He did my IS300 light conversion on the trunk, and he's also done custom body work for my g/f's Celica.

It'd be easier to do than a GS headlight conversion...

At least the 5-series lights are somewhat similar in dimensions. The GS lights are too tall, and they have big curve in the middle that would not match up with a 4th gen's hood. It's going to be very, very difficult. Let us know how many metric tons of Bondo you use.

If you put on GS headlights your car will be plastered all over the internet in "WTF" threads, and it will deserve every bad comment it gets. That would be hideous. Go with something nice like R34 lights or 5-series "angel eyes".

I kinda like it... Looks pretty hard to do the conversion though...you have to cut your hood among other things.

Nice...

Nice work GTR_Rider that is really good art! I used to make fake IDs too like samiam, but that pic is really well done. HOWEVER, I personally feel it looks ugly as sh*t. Just as everyone said, the lights are too tall, require LOADS of money ($450 is really unbelievable), and they just don't go. Also keep in mind Lexus headlights aren't going to be cheap...

Yes, please do it. I'm seriously considering swapping out the headlights and I've been trying to get ideas. Thanks.

Whose car is that...Right now I have the Altezza's on my car, and am working with some kind of weird vinyl that I found at a craft shop that I am cutting out the circles on. It sounds lame but it looks really good so far, but that yellow ride is SWEET!

I didn't think the title of this post was "IS300 Conversion, What is black019's opinion??" And I looked back through the posts again, and I didn't see anyone ask for your opinion, or for your childish sarcasim...But while we're on the topic...

Maybe if you beg, your mommy will let you mod her car with some custom work, since your so adamant on finding a cheap body shop to doit for you, (as stated in your previous post). You shouldn't talk trash about other peoples cars if you don't have one of your own. "Read the pink slip, boy!
