Don't do it
If you intend on using saddle soap on your leather upholstery, don't do it. Saddle soap is very alkaline (high pH) and will harm the delicate finish on our seats. Our leather actually has a finish coat which can easily be damaged by caustic (alkaline) products. I have thoroughly researched this issue and talked with many automotive leather restoration experts, curators of rare books with leather bindings, and even leather manufacturers (such as Eagle Ottawa). Eagle Ottawa produces their own conditioner/cleaner and I have seen the product at several stores including Walmart. Lexol also makes a fine cleaner and also a conditioner that is equally recognized as acceptable to use. Both these products are pH balanced to the actual original pH of leather seats so they will not strip the finish. Saddle soap has been traditionally used on saddles and other equestrian accessories - not automotive leather.

What I have been using is "Fiebing's Glycerine saddle soap". It said it's for the cleaning and care of fine saddlery, riding boots and other article of leather. I thought Lexol is just 10% Glycerine and 90% water. When I use the glycerin saddle soap, it smells just like Lexol It was $3.75 from an equestrian store. I always follow it up with lexol or other automotive leather conditioner.

Call these people...
You don't want to use saddle soap to further aggravate the condition. Lexol is much more complicated that 10% glycerin and actually contains chemicals originally found in the leather which may escape during aging.
The truth of the matter is that our leather has a "finish" coat applied to it. As long as this finish coat remains intact, no conditioner is ever really needed. Again, I have confirmed this technical experts at Eagle Ottawa, Lexol, and other automotive leather manufacturers. However, if the "finish" coat becomes abraded and underlying leather becomes exposed, then oils can escape and rapid aging (cracking) can occur.
I looked in my file and found the name of a place that specializes in replacing the finish coat on automotive leather. They have a complete process of re-oiling, other steps and finally appling a new finish coat.
Contact the people at www.advleather.com. I believe the name of the proprietor there is Barbara. You will probably have to have the leather removed by a trim shop and have the covers sent to them. Get a quote and compare to quotes for a complete new leather install.
Please find below an excerpt from their website. Let us know how it works out.
