Question about letting the car sit ??

Now that I'm at college my car will be sitting in the parking lot for about a week at a time...I know it really isnt a long time but it may be for the car ? Im gonna go home every weekend (75 miles) so It will get a good workout once a week...Im probably gonna go to the store a few times with it but its probably nothing I should worry about

Don't know, but you may want to add a fuel stabilizer if the tank will last you a month.

I drive my "beater" car during the week, while the maxima just chills for Friday - Sunday.
Never had any problems

Is there any truth to the idea that your tires might temporarily 'form' to the side they're sitting on in colder weather so that your first couple of minutes driving might be a tad lumpy? Or is a car just too damn heavy for that?

Curious, that's it.

I don't think so. I have a '64 T-bird that has sat for a year and never noticed this. Now that's a heavy car!

This was true back in the days when Nylon was used as the tire fabric material. It is a non-problem with modern tires.

As long as your not letting it sit for a few weeks or whatever. On other cars I have done that and it starts rough at first ebcause of the oil. But if you plan on leaving it sit for like two or three weeks just fire it up in the middle somewhere for a few minutes.

I was wondering this same thing. I joined the marines, and my car will be sitting still for at least 3 months while I'm at boot camp, and who knows how much longer after that. I'll most likely have one of my friends drive it once a week or so. Is there anything else I should do?

Weekly exercise is all the car needs. The engine should be run at least 15 minutes to charge the battery.

my cars sits from time to time

it sits for 3 weeks or so and i leave the alarm on, and fires right up when i get back it will be fine. just let idle for a few minutes before you go. that will let the fluids run through the engine. my two cents

HAHAHA, measure the thread depth, because I'm sure your friends will do some burnouts with it and hopefully take some pics that you can post here

leaving it for a month

I'm off at college 1800 miles from home (fun drive ), but I dont want to make the drive when I go home for winter break. So, I'll be leaving the car sitting for about a month and I don't have anyone to exercise it while I'm away. Will the car have any problems when I get back? Should I do anything special before I leave? Thanks.
