I bought my car for 3 months and I had most of the 60k tune up done on my 33K-mile 97 maxima except the coolant. I am thinking about renewing my coolant (just to feel safer before winter and find something to do for my boring student life, i got terrible experience for my last car).

has anybody uses the prestone radiator cleaner or prestone super flush before for the cleaning the radiator? or use something else? or just simply put in the new coolant? thanks.

 

I have used prestone super flush (97 max 32k miles) before you begin make sure you locate the drain plugs to properly flush your cooling system. It takes quite a while to do this make sure u dont get scalded. I've used 50/50 mix of prestone coolant and half bottle of redline's water wetter. Imho you dont really need to flush it with the super flush since the maxima manual recommends to use water to flush the cooling system.

 

as long as you don't have build-up in your coolant system, just drain & fill w/new coolant
if you really want to.....flush with water
