Replaced Belts But.... New Noise

I replaced the belts and the idler pulley over the weekend. They weren't difficult but just annoying because of the angle my arm had to be to adjust the power steering pump. Anyway, the screeching sound went away. I feel this was caused by the bad bearing in the idler pulley. However, when I start the car for the fist time after sitting awhile, a loud scraping sound emits from the engine bay. It sounds like two pieces of metal rubbing each other. I did not pack the ilder pulley with grease because the bearing was a sealed type but there are two metal dust shields on either side. Should I have packed these with grease? I think this may be my problem area. Once the car is running the sound disappears and the car is quieter than ever! Have any of you had this problem after changing the belts and/or idler pulley?

I just replace mine and have the same sound.

Anyone know the answer to this?
