Timing Chain - Quick Post

I understand my '98 SE has a timing chain.

So there is no 60k mile tuning for it?

Thanks!

There really isn't much of a need to change this from what I understand, no. The point of the timing chain was to avoid the 60-90k replacement of a timing belt. I'm not sure if its something to keep a watch on way down the road....

I may be wrong though.

The timing chain was designed to last the life of the vehicle. Unless you notice significant noise, like a chatter from it or a rather large degradation from the engine performance wise, the timing chain need not be replaced.

Sweet! I was worried I was going to have to pay a lot of money to have it replaced. It's too bad that car companies and shops make too much money off of replacing them every 60k miles.

Thanks .org!

Chain is for life. you don't have to change .
That true my friend at NISSAN SERVICE told me that.

Yep no need to change the chain unless it's making noise. My local Nissan mechanic told me to make sure to do oil changes regularly and the chain should last the life of the car.
