differences between 97 and 98 suspension

I read on a car site that the 98 had improved rear suspension and steering over the 97. What is improved and is it noticable and is it worth the extra 2 grand in price? Thanks guys.. I've narrowed down my search to these 2 years and would try to save the 2 grand if I can find a good low mileage 97 unless they are inferior in the handling and steering department. I test drove a 98 and took it thru the twisties and man does it handle. I looked under the car and noticed it looks like it has a solid rear axle. do the 99's have this too? the site said there were no improvements between 98 and 99. thanks!!!!

Solid rear axle for ALL maximas 95 - 2002. The multi link beam improved on the Gen 5 model.

Diferences between 97 and 98?

98s have side airbags optional
98s were the 1st year of the digital odo
98s, the ones with auto-climate control, have the newer version.

Other than that, 97 and 98s are pretty much identical.

Same suspension across similar trim levels for 95-99 models. As for the steering, 97+ have speed sensitive power steering, which varies the boost at high and low speeds. It is supposed to deliver better feel than 95-96 Maximas.
