i want to replace the stocn antenna for one that doesnt move up and down, kind of like the s2000. has anyone done this or is it possible? how about to make a roof antenna like the jetta instead of on the back side? i know id have to shave the nub off, rewire and make a hole for the roof antenna but i would do it cause i think it looks better.

there should be an antenna built into your back window, there is on mine. So shave it, put a fake one on, and deal with half-@$$ reception

How do you know there's an antenna back there? Maybe it's just the AM antenna or something... I doubt they would put on a motorized one if there's a perfectly good antenna there.

says there is in the owners manual. and if you look at the back window there is clearly another wire in the back window other than the defrost one. I dont know how well it works or what it is for, but if you want an easy solution, i was just offering my suggestion. I am pretty sure someone on the board has done what you want though, i dont know about moving the wires but.. i could be wrong

According to the owners manual the stereo automatically switches between the antenna with the least amount of noise between the rear window antenna and the powered antenna on the trunk. I'm sure you will need more then just the rear window antenna but you could find out by disconnecting it for a week and you will notice if you need it or not.

My dads 99 Camery just has the rear window antenna and seems to get perfect reception all the time. He has no other actually antenna on the outside of the car.
