If you are just gonna test out the ecu, I would just unbolt the one 10mm ? bolt from the harness to the ecu and plug it into the jwt. It is a pain in the *** to get to get the ecu out. If you do want to take the ecu then remove the 4 screws. You will need a short phillips screwdriver for one of the screws.

I did it in a parking lot in 30 minutes. Although when i was done it felt like i was dragged on my knees behind a car for 10 minutes. I needed an assortment of sockets and extensions plus a 1/4 drive ratchet. Test the ECU first, as described above, then if it works good put it in, i didnt even use all the bolts, i couldnt get the top one out so i just put the ones in i could get too.
Youd think they would make it just a little easier to get the ecu in and out lol..

actually removing the 4 screws was nearly impossible for me.
There are 2 bolts that bolt the ecu cover to the car that are easier to remove. Once removed, you should be able to move the ECU around enough that removing the 4 screws is much easier and won't take you forever to do.
