Long Day... bad engine... good results..

Long Day... bad engine... good results.. PICS!!!

So on Monday, I missed work in order to work on the car and take out the motor. We had it running, for a few solid days, when all of sudden, it just shut off on me... the engine left me stranded in between two cities.... Any ways.. the car would not start... there was a CLACKING sound, coming from the timing cover area, it sounded as thou the engine wanted to turn but couldnt.

So Monday came, we tore the engine bay apart... (was going to do a write up on.. How To Pull Out a Engine) but I totally forgot about the camera. So down came the tires, the axles, the transmission, the radiator, hoses, sensors.... and up came the engine.

Note: in order to take out the engine the only sockets you will need are
10, 12, 14, 17, 19, and anything in between.

Got the engine on a stand, and out came the timing cover....
Problem found !!!! the tip of the timing chain tensioners; (the piece of plastic in the middle, found between the cams gears) had broken off and fallen down in between the timing chain and the crankpulley gear. (dont know the actual name), so it the car went off timing, and lost all compression. We took it out, re aligned the gears and the chain, like the Haynes Manuel said, and put everything back together, (cleaned and resealed everything on the car)... put everything back together... only to found out the engine was still bad..
so we put on the side. Luckily my buddy had two spare motors... one that was incomplete and another complete motor with a little bonus on the side... (JIM WOLF CAMS.... ) so he tells me, he'll loan me the cams, for now and that the motor has already had some work done to it (port and polished heads, and ported IM), the engine never made it to his car, cause it was sold. So now.... I'm still car less but now I got a dope engine.. to play with... while I still build my 3.5

Mods as of 9/12/07

JWT Cams
Port/Polished Heads
Ported IM
Blocked off EGR
B&M Short Throw Shifter
ACT Stage 2 Clutch
Fidanza 11lb Flywheel
3inch Warpspeed Y-pipe
2.5 Straight Exhaust
DynoMax Super Turbo Muffler (17748)

I included some photos... not the best, nor much to look at.... the camera was dying, but enjoy. I will have video soon w/sound so you guys can hear the car.

P.S. Got 4 VQ3.0 engines that I will be parting off on the 4th gen classifieds..
