possible transmision problem
yesterday i was driving home and i noticed this when i stopped at a red light. the light turned green and there was no sign of maxi moving like all automatics does. mostly when you have the brakes pushed it is stopped and as soon as you let go of the break it starts moving slowly ahead. but yesterday it wasnt doing that. i would come to a full stop and i had to give gas to get it going. and i have noticed that whenever its cold it kinda shifts harder than before.any one have an idea about wats happening to my maxi.
i put on a cone filter about 2 months ago. is it possible that thats screwing around with my motor? i m going back to stock anyways cause i have lost alot of low end power. i mean alot. how do i check my CV Shaft?
it just started doing this. and i havent checked my transmission fluid i will do it tommorrow. i have had the cone in there for like 2 months now without any problem. but i want to know if anyone else had any problem like this when they put a cone in.
It's not the air filter. It's a transmission issue. Fluid is probably low. If it is low, it must be leaking. If so, top it off, test drive to see if that solved the issue, then look for the leak. If the fluid is not low, let a transmission mechanic drive it.

Not hard, get the front up on jack stands as high as you can after a highway drive and pull the drain plug, I think it's 19mm, could be wrong (be careful buddy, thin head on that bolt, easy to strip, use the proper tools.....) Let it drain for a good 1/2 hour.
unfortunately i have had to rebuild my tranny 3 times. First time job was done correct but right after my one year warranty expired a tranny cooler hose broke and i drove on a tranny with no fuild. Second time got rebuilt and after 9 mths was having trble. The guy gave me a lifetime warranty. So when I went back his shop closed down. This las time i decided to pay a lil more and get it done thru aamco cuz they offer a lifetime warranty that is nationwide. So back to your problem, yes it the tranny going-- its one of the first signs. Your doing more damage if you drive it that way. Check the fluid if its not the fluid then your tranny is dying. sorry :-(

There is no way you can positively say that for him, and if anything it sounds more like a tourqe convertor failure.
To check if the brakes are binding jack up the wheels and make sure they spin freely, if one doesn't than before replacing the caliper crack the bleeder screw loose first and than try to spin that wheel, to eliminate the possibility of an internally collapsed rubber hose holding hydraulic pressure.
Well only one way to find out, lets see what happens. Remember KRRZ350 all we can do without seeing the car is make an educated guess. Yes I can say the tranny is going because from my experience that is my educated guess. I presume then you've had a stuck caliper and a internally collapsed rubber hose holding hydraulic pressure. It could also be magical kitten that lives in your tranny has decided to have babies and those babies are just playing with your torque converter or the other 400 parts can can fail in your tranny.
dude, first off just relax and don't go rushing off rebuilding your trans just yet. check the fluid level and color, should be a light red color and not have a burnt smell or be a dark color. if your level is where it should be which i doubt then talk to a trans shop like cottman, aamco people in my area are complete idiots and see what they think. they will charge you to take apart but will let you know if the torque converter is shot or if its something else. bear in mind that they might try talking you into a new trans, so if you have a shop to go to you might want to go there. my expierience is that once your torque converter goes, its tranny time. good luck and baby that thing!!!!!

That's a current thread where someone is regretting it.......
AND, just last week, I started working on a car that I am fixing up to sell, '94 altima with a blown auto tranny, same trans as an auto max actually with different bellhousing.......... I scored one w/50k for $160 off of car-part.com, took me a few hours to install and all is good.
