transmission problems!!!

transmission problems!!!

hey guys,

so my max was leakin fluid for the past little while. i kept on top of it but my bearing went and messed up the trans. guess that happens on 10 year old cars now. wondering were is a good place to get a 5spd because car is on the lift not going anywhere rignt now.

Where are you? I have a rebuilt open diff tranny ready to go.

I will strongly urge you to have any used tranny you consider opened and inspected by a tranny shop or other experienced technician BEFORE installing it. There are many maxima 5 speeds in various stages of bearing wear. If it's not in a running car it's often for a good reason. At least if the tranny is a lemon, you can return it or get a major price reduction that will help pay for the rebuild. If you install it it's too late for that.

I live up in canada, its hard to find parts for maxima's and if you do they try to charge an arm and a leg. Whats an open diff?

wait, you mean your differential bearing went and messed up the transmission? Like the other gears are torn up now because of that?

If his gear oil level got too low, sure that can happen.
