suspension work

i want to do suspenson work and i have the parts, my guy says 500.00 for what i allready have, ( i have the parts ) which are the springs, struts, plates, cushioner bearings, and boots. now, he wants to add another 200.00 to that equasion for tie rod ends and rack boots cause they're broken and leaking. thats 700.00 plus i have to do an alignment for another 50.00. 750.00 for all those parts and i'm not believing its going to take him 5 to 6 hours to do this.how much time and $$$$ should i expect to pay for all the above parts mentioned and bear in mind he's going to have the front end apart anyway for the suspension work. please, only solid reasonable expierienced replies only. thanks in advance.....

Do it all man. It's expensive but well worth it.

Definately spend the scrilla to get it done right. I wouldn't mess around and get it done cheap. Good luck.

Alldata time:
Front struts 3.6hrs
Rear struts 1.6hrs
4 tie rods 1.4hrs
Assume he rounds up, thats 7.5hrs.
What is the labor rate? $100.00hr is very high. My shop is $60.00hr.
Reasonable price: $450.00 labor. Plus alignment.
It might not take him that long to do the job (7.5hrs), but how fast a mechanic is does not dictate the labor time.

Also, rack boots don't leak, they are just dust covers. If there is power steering fluid in them the rack is leaking. Changing the boots won't help.

from what it sounds like i might as well take it up the rear tailpipe cause there's no-one else to do this and i'm sick of the friggin hearing the goddamn clunking and squeaking going on with my girl and she aint complaining by not running good so i'll return the favor to her since this car runs so good. i'm just hesitant because of other things that can go wrong with her being as that she's at 168,000 and not getting any younger. i'm doin it next week and i'll post pics when i'm done. what problems and/or concerns should i have when he's done other than springs settling?? thanks again....
