alignment question??
#3
no this is definitely not true. i just had a 4 wheel alignment done and the guy told me my front end was way out of whack. He said it took two guys to straighten it because it was bent so far (had a small accident a year ago). Anyway, I went through a set of tires in a year b/c the front was so bent. Whereever you heard that only the back gets done is wrong.

It's true, there are no adjustments in the rear. About the only use of a 4-wheel alignment is to find out what the caster and camber of the rear wheels are at, but I don't think your average front-end shop will be able to change them. This may be useful info if you plan on autocrossing or if the car has been wrecked.

Alignment shops use the rear wheels to determine the 'thrust angle'. While it is true that nothing can be adjusted in the rear it is still used for a point of reference. Through a 4 wheel alignment I was unfortuantely able to determine that I have a slightly bent rear axle. Yeah This bend affects my thrust angle, so my steering wheel will always be a little off center. So far I'm not eating tires up, so I'll just monitor it. $$$$$$$$$$
