L E D interior W/pix---->
No they are not too bright i put them on max brightness for the pictures. I use the room dimmer to lower them at night. They almost turn off so they are always adjustable to your preferance.

just to throw it out there I used a belt sander and sanded the led flat to about 1mm above the silicon inside the led. I placed these in the window switches and no hot spots could be seen. I know it'd take a while to hand sand it but it's worth it
also, i just wrecked the flat led that's in the rear window switches so that it didn't glow green or turn on at all. Did you do these? I found it'd be close to impossible without a solder sucker.

idk, i guess my 98 started the trend. In the rear window switch, nissan put in a flat led looking something like this: http://en.goodlamp.com/upload/flatpiranha.jpg
they did this because some type of black chip is on the other side, which would cause a problem if a regular led was placed in there.
this, in turn, is pretty annoying. it is soldered at 4 different points which are within 2 mm of each other...a brain surgeon would have trouble doing it.

Oh well, I don't really care about the back ones lighting up anyways. I never ride back there lol
wariow i was just doing some reading and saw that you were sourcing your LEDs from a guy on ebay. Have you tried http://www.besthongkong.com ?? I order all my LEDs from them, last time i ordered i paid $12 canadian for 100 blue LEDs including shipping. You get better deals with the more LEDs you buy and you can also select what range of illumination you want ( ie 10 degrees, 20 degrees etc). The guy you buy from may even get them from the same source as these guys
I did 5mm blue leds for my auto climate control. It is way too dim. I sanded them down as well. Should I just go with leds that are higher rated mcd? I think mine are 3600 or so.

The two images are both taken by my cell phone under different light conditions, thats why they look so different.

if you dont sand them they will shine through brighter and you can use your interior dimmer to adjust how bright you want it!!! Theonlyplace I would say to sand is the guages and the indicator light for the rear defoger b/c it doesnt hsve a stock defuser/shield and shines rightin you face ...

I made the dome of each led flat by sanding, trying to reduce the hot spots, which helped, in a way, for leds not to be too bright.

It taps into the 12V. There is another way to do it?
My auto climat control doesnt work after 2 days of trying to fix it. I figured you were talking to me and the leds that do work in my car ie: window switches, hazd., rear defog (the photos at the begining of the thread) are dimmable. Sorry
Some more new pics I dont like the diffused look although i did it on the map light and key ring led's (one's NA).

You have to disconnect the housing around the steering column to get access to the wires. Pop off the pice that covers the ignition and key lock with your fingernails, use some muscals!! Unscrew the 6 screws holding the part together from underneath, the first pix shows only 4 screws there are 2 more closer to the engen. You might have to remove the bottom dash kick plate to access the front most screws. (look at the second pics). The white cap over the light must be removed, fliped up first, then the clear and white housing slide off the key igition . You have to custom the led and resistor to fit in the white housing but you have some room to play. Make sure that when you close the cap on the white pice it doesnt hit the led. I ended up not using this pice anyway for no reason at all, no extra light will shine through from not using this pice. I have another led on the other side of the clear ring to eaven out the glow but the solder broke and its no longer connected. I need to just get to it, its fairly easy to do as well
THESE 4 SCREWS

POSSIBLY REMOVE THIS KICK PLATE UNDERNEATH THE STEERING COLUMN

REMOVE THE WHITE CAP OVER THE STOCK BULB

SLIDE THE PICES OFF AND UNTANGLE THE WIRE HARNES

in a 95-96 cluster the 194 bulb should just be plug and play. I changed the 194 bulbs in mine to just blue coated halogen bulbs from the stock ones and it was a direct fit. I plan on changing everything over to led very shortly though
). I 'lined up' the hollowpoint of the LED with the squarish end of the plastic injection that is the ring with tape.there isnt really much of a hot spot since the ring has a kind of beveled surface to it.
here is the regular naked bulb with blue sharpie on it...terrible

much better

the same type of LEDs produced some hotspotting in the instruments, however but its not as bad as my camera makes it look. hope this helps

just my $.02
i used an unsanded inverted LED bulb off ebay that fits in there...#74 or something (bear with me, I am at Annapolis and havent worked on my car since summer 2006
