(here we go with another seafoam thread)

It wouldn't hurt if you do it corectly (thru the brake booster). You can run 1/2 the can thru the brake booster line letting the engine suck it in; and put the rest in the gas tank.

People have advised not to put it into the crankcase because it really eats up the bearings. (especially if you don't change your oil right away). If you want a good engine treatment, get AUTO-RX

the brake booster is the round black metal thingy on the driver's side of the firewall under the hood. The master cylinder that holds the brake fluid goes into it.
If you're gonna use seafoam, change your oil within a couple of days.

the general conscensus on here is that it doesn't do squat, and actually eats away @ bearings if you put it in the crankcase and/or don't change the oil afterwards. I think that if you REALLY want something that's SAFE and WORKS, get AUto-RX.

ahh i dont know if you should be putting it in your gas tank, you kinda want this stuff in and out as quick as possible, half a can then get fresh oil in ASAP.

I understand that you've had ALOT more experience with this than me
I've done extensive research on here before doing this a year ago. You really have no idea how many threads about seafoam i've seen. I used it, but i can't reccomend it because it doesn't do jack squat.

THe only PROVEN products that work are:

-Techron Fuel system treatment (for clean the entire fuel system safely)
-Auto-RX for engine cleaning

PERIOD!!

I used to use 1/2 bottle to gas tank when the gas is full tank and
After another half bottle is put in the crankcase, I drove 250 miles and then changing oils.

Have you ever used it? I have used seafoam deep creep to clean the iacv and throttle body with excellent results. However, recently I put 1 can of seafoam into my gas tank and 200 miles later the car started acting up. I did some research and found out that my spark plugs may have been fouled from all the sludge that seafoam had dissolved. Today I checked the plugs and sure enough they were fouled. I changed the plugs and now the car drives better than ever.

Holy cow. I bet that is what my problem is! Long story short, ECTS burnt out throwing P0115 and P0125. Engine was burning gasoline really really rich. RPM keeps dropping down to 100 then back to 600 when cluthched is pressed. So I added half can of sea foam into my gas tank. I got the sensor replaced and reset the ECU. Everything ran good for 15 min, then codes P0300 and P0150 threw up (flashing CEL). Cleared them and then P0306 came up. Cleared them and P0300 back up again. Car was running weak and I can see gasoline dripping from exhaust muffler along with thick grayish white smoke shooting repetitive. Sorry to go off topic. (off to search "replacing spark plugs")

Last edited by beer-2k; Feb 7, 2008 at 09:28 PM. Reason: P0306 > P0603; <--- i take it back, it was code P0306 cylinder 6 misfire

Look who's talking. You haven't even been a member of this org for a year yet.
If you don't have anything to say about the topic then don't comment. You just end up adding crap to the thread. Also, I have searched all of the threads on seafoam and they are all bogus or incomplete. Oh yeah, this thread is only a few months old and your getting your panties all twisted up about me diggin this thread up? Stop reading the seafoam threads if they make you so sick.
