Restoring the Max

I have about 101K and I was thinking I might like to restore it. I'm really a complete newbie when it comes to cars and the .org has done a lot to get me on my way, but I haven't seen anything on restoration.

Probably not many people care to restore a max, but I find the 4th gen to be the hottest Sedan, especially in black.

So i'm basically wondering if I could clean up the engine bay, clean up the under carriage and replace the rusty bolts? What would something like that cost? And has anyone done it, certainly people who have show cars do something like this.

That's not really a restoration, that's more of a heavy detailing job.

Just get a pressure washer and some degreaser and go to town, not really sure what sort of info you're looking for here. A good car wash with underspray would suffice for the underside of the car, and a pressure washer would do your engine bay.

As far as bolts, that's really dependent on what is rusted up and what you'd want to replace.

just did my 72 nova, complete frame up, por-15 works really well, its a protective paint. its amazing what you can do with a can of spray paint and some sand paper, makes parts look like new. and a restoration...well i dont even think you can call rebuilding a maxima a restoration, more of just a, like said before, detailing. You can go replace all the rubber seals you want and nuts n bolts to make it rust free...but its a maxima. Just clean it up, do some paint here and there, some good polishing and your car will look great and wont cost you a grand or more. Plus a restoration would entail rebuilding the engine/trans at least......just my .02
