I've been having an issue with my Max for some time now and I just don't understand what the problem is. I've tried just about everything with no luck and I'm running out of ideas.
When accelerating in any gear, the car starts to jerk/stutter always at the same spot in the gas pedal. At about the 1/3 mark in the gas pedal is when it first starts jerking, I give it a bit more gas and then I'm ok until about the 2/3 mark where is starts jerking again. I basically have to punch the gas until I pass those "problem" areas in my gas pedal, it's really messed-up. Oh and forget about flooring it, all it does is the funky chicken when you floor it.
After changing the coil pack, sparkplugs, MAF sensor, knock sensor and TPS it still isn't any better. Now I'm starting to wonder if there could be a short somewhere. I bought a cheap grounding kit a while ago, the one where the ground wires connect to a fake "Nismo" ring which is attached to the ground terminal of the battery. Could this be a possibility? I really don't know anymore...
Anyone have any ideas? Anything can help. Thanks.

Grounding on any car is very important. But the one problem is with your story, if u had a bad ground, u would should also be having other electrical problems as well. Do you have any codes, even thought the CEL isnt on? I would check the tps voltage readings to make sure they dont jump or go to 0 at the 1/3 and 2/3 mark. Also check the reading for the MAF. If a reading is wrong, either replace with something else, or you have a wiring problem/short. Have you done any thing with the ECU?

As far as other problems, I've got lights that keep burning out. I've had to change my 2 front headlights, High beams, 1 rear tail-light and 1 fog light in the past year.Originally Posted by 2theMax77

Actually my CEL is burned out. I had my mechanic run the scanner on it when the problem occured but it did not shoot any new codes. He reset it and that was it. I can't pull the codes myself since the CEL is out.

Take out the ground wires to see if the car drives better. I am dead serious too. I F'd around with ground wires and it gave me the exact symptoms you have.
