My hood doesn't line up (pictures)...and its pissing me off
my hood should be sitting flush with the front body panel of the drivers side but it does not. its not sitting that much lower, but it still doesnt look right from the front.
http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...S/DSC00184.jpg ive looked at about every place the hood could be sitting and i dont see anyhting that looks off....so my only real idea about how to fix it was this little cushion sitting on the side of the frame. but that seems to be the same in feel and size as the other side (the passenger side) which is sitting flush... http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...00143paint.jpg ive seen this on other maximas both in real life and in pictures on here do i have to replace that cushion? is there another piece im missing? |
mine does the same, it's alittle down and forward, it happened after i took my hood off and put it back on so i bet its just alignment issues
|
Has your car ever been in a front end collision that you are aware of?
|
no. i bought this from the original owner - a 92 year old woman. CARFAX checked out. she never drove at night or in the rain. no accidents. only 42k on the car. 4k a year...
|
its off my 4mm:faint:
you could try loosening the bolts for the hood and try shifting it back as far as it will go then see if it lines up, if not try loosening the fender and shifting it forward to line up. |
Have you tried adjusting the rubber bumpers that are in the radiator support. I think that helps to control the hood height. They should screw up and down a little bit. Yours could have gotten worn out over time.
|
you mean the ones that compress when you let the hood down?
they have an accordian type rubber flexing cover on them? those can be adjusted? |
are you talking about this thing? its height can be adjusted by screwing/unscrewing?
http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...DSC00231-1.jpg |
umm that thing is the security switch for the hood.
nothing to do with the hood not closing right, if I'm not mistaken |
ok. i see what you are talking about now.
|
yeah...neither red or yellow arrows have anything to do with it,its some aligntment about the place do, and you said no front collison....hmmm,overall its not all that bad.
|
what if you adjusted your latch up on the drivers side alittle bit????? i would try it and see what happens,

yeah the blue one is what I am talking about. It might not be your problem but that is what I am talking about. You could always smack your fender with a hammer to lower it a bit to make it match:D |
take a hammer and bang it into place lol. It doesnt look that bad
|
just raise the rubber piece up by turning it counter clockwise (blue)
|
get over it, seriously MDeezy is right... it's off by 4mm worry about gas prices or some other shieet
|
if you remove your pinstripe, that will help
