Anyone taken apart the gauge cluster before?

I've never taken apart or even removed the 4th gen gauge cluster so this is directed at those who have.

Is it possible to remove the water temperature gauge from the gauge cluster?

Does anyone have any pictures of the back side of the gauge cluster so i can get an idea of what I'd be looking at if I were to attempt this?

Yep, you can remove anything. The water temp, fuel gauge, rpm tach, and speed tach can be removed. I believe two screws hold each one.

It's cool, don't worry about it. I was just being too lazy to pull mine out.

What you thinking of putting in place of the water temp gauge?

khantalha, how much room is there between the face of the temp gauge and the board behind it, I'm wondering if I could squeeze a guage that is about 1/2" - 3/4" thick in there.

I played around with the idea of throwing a gauge there also. You have 1.5" from the face to the board so dept is not really an issue but your going to have to cut some of the plastic mounting behind the temp gauge.

imo the temp gauge is important...it saved me awhile ago when my water pump leaked and i lost all my coolant.

what I'm installing has water and oil temp gauges hooked up to it. i wouldn't run a turbo car on a road course without a temp gauge.

the stock may not be the greatest but i think having some kind of temp gauge in there is important.

i see neal is putting in a better temp gauge.

That was my point, I like to see exactly where my ECT is, not just a 50 - 60*F range.

This is semi helpful with respect to your idea:

Depending on the gauge, 0-5V is sometimes your friend.
