Both of my front calipers seized so I bought new calipers without the frame. In the process of disassembly I lost the 2 little metal springs that sit in between the main caliper and the bracket. Do I really need these or no?

springs???? the only springs are the ones that pull the pads apart and the "brake hardware" that holds the pads tight so they dont knock around while driving.

 

I has to be there for a reason. I'd get the springs.

autozone should sell em. all the springs come together in a little bag. like 10 bucks or something. You can't buy JUST those springs, rather, all the springs and stuff required for a brake change... but all of the springs are necessary, i'd recommend sucking it up and buyin the bag.

 

Your safest bet is to look for the springs. You don't want to be driving around in rush hour and surprise, your brakes don't work.

 

Are you talking about the two springs that look live a long V? My front brakes don't have those springs for many years. No problem.

they arent springs and they arent absolutely necessary. worst thing you will hear are your pads rattling if you hit a bump.

 

the springs are anti rattle clips. they help isolate the scratching noise you hear when the pads are seated. if you don't want noise put them in. they do help. also help adds tension to the pads to keep them from moving. they sell those are pretty much all part store. if you buy the premium pads they sometimes come with new one.
