idle problem

yesterday i cleaned the iacv and tb and today on my way to work i noticed that the idle was jumping from 650-750. and at times when im coming to a stop it stays at about 1000 and then drops down to the 650-750. i double checked everything today and everything is plugged in where it should be so i cant think of anything else so if anyone has had this problem before please help me out.

did you spray anything on the maf?

or you might just have to calibrate your tps

dont go calibrating anything. if you didnt touch it before, you dont have to touch it now. make sure you cleaned it properly and make sure you used new gaskets.

Hi,

1. Clean your throttle body with a tooth brush and carbu cleaner or brake cleaner.

2. Then, (probally your problem), ground the black wire on the MAF. I think is the middle one on the maf. Dont cut it, just fix a new wire ( Y) and ground it on the body.

3. If it doesn't work, try the link above.

4. Try a new MAF.

Funny You should ask this... I cleaned my TB & IACV at the beginning of the summer & have had slight issues with it ever since, UNTIL TODAY. After cleaning everything out I noticed that my idle was jumpy too, & much more so when it was cold (this is why I never got around to playing with it). ANYWAY... latley when it is cold it has been hard too start & when it finally did start it would seem like it wanted to die out (just until it is warm, than it is fine) so I pulled my service manual & decided to reset my idle (which i thought I did when I cleaned everything out) I FORGOT 1 MAIN STEP.... UNPLUG THE TPS THEN SET YOUR IDLE. if not it will never be right, I have been driving it all day & the idle is ROCK SOLID.
Hopefully this helps you, it helped me

Please explain this in more detail to me:

"jumping" : you see the needle moving while you are standing ? it does not keep the rpm steady at a certain number WHILE you are standing ?

This is normal, it will settle down, do not do anything for the next few weeks (depending on how often and how far you drive every day)

RPM "jumping" is due to coils...not Mass Airflow

I suggest replacing the coils. My local Nissan swore up and down this problem was due to the MAF sensor. $400 later and the problem came back before i could get it off the lot. It turns out the Coils were bad. I replaced all six of them at one time to prevent varying amps/volts/daltons...whatever they measure!!

they are cheap to purchase and moderately cheap to have installed.

I am having a rough idle my self. Just cleaned the TB and MAF too. This problem started yesterday when I fueled up at Walmart. Using 93 octane too. This has happened before but the O2 sensor seemed to be the culprit. I have the 0302 code. EGR. I am going to see if its clogged as it might be since its a 300+ 95 Maxima. Any suggestions would be most appreciative. Thanks to you all. (awaiting activation so I can post a new thread)

I'm not sure which EGR code this has to do, but i know that some EGR issue may cause a vaccum leak that would lead to idle isssues.

What did you spray the MAF with?

A week later...I have cleaned a series of things and then I just put in some HEET fluid and a few days later...the idle was ok. I had impurities in the gas, crap and water, Walmart gas!!!! Beware all you Max users...no Murphy USA 93 octane...bite the bullet and use the Exxon, BP, Shell and those folks north, Mobile.
