Clearing tails with oven?

Two Questions:

1) Does anyone here know where I can buy the white strip that is cut from the plastic light cover? I can do everything else myself, but I cannot get the pieces of plastic to look right.

2) I would rather use the oven then the heat gun. What can I put on top of the cookie tray so the light doesn't melt and stick to it?

Thanks

U can put a cotton towel on the sheet and put the light assembly lens down. I dont know where you can get a already cut piece, but just keep trying.

One of those "air bake" cookie sheets might help. They're basically two cookie sheets welded together with a layer of air between the sheets. Expensive cookie sheet to mess up though. If it were me, I'd wet the towel (that was suggested above).

Cutting out new lenses from the flourescent light cover........ real easy way!!!

Here you go...the easiest way I found to cut the lenses themselves is as follows:
1) Figure out the proper size for the lens. This may take two or three mistakes to get the right size.
2) Trace the outline of where you want to cut on the smooth side of the light cover.
3) If you try to cut these it is hard as hell. I originally tried a razor, jewelers saw etc. They all did a ****ty job.
4) What finally worked: I used my heat gun to heat up one side of my outline. I heated one side gently until lens became soft and then I cut it with a pair of scissor. This gave me even and straight edges and made the process simple.

5)Using this process allowed me to cut my new lenses in 2-3 minutes and they came out the exact size I wanted. Heating the piece I was cutting was the key and saved me a lot of time.

Good luck, after one time you will be an expert!!!

I used a soldering iron to cut through the flourescent light cover to "size" the new piece to be placed in the taillight.... cuts the cover like "butta"... just get a cheap soldering iron from Walmart if you don't already have one... costs like $5... then heat the "cut" piece a little, bend it, and *presto*...
