Brake assist how does it work..

I have brake assist in my max and I was driving in the snow to see how it works. I had my car locking up it's brake and I would slide one way like I was drifting. I know the brake assist should not lock up the car and the car should slow down steadily as if it,were ABS. I am thinking there is something wrong with my braking system or it's just my BA. Thanks.

The 4th gens have a brake assist and I have the option for a ABS module and acutator. I will have to get it installad by the dealer. I will need to have lot's of money to do so. Some 4th gens have it as a option and they option to change it over to the ABS system.

It is hard to know and hard to explain, Because there people that are changing there (95-96) maxima's to a (97-99) (Front end and rear end conversions) and other components. There's so many differences it will be hard for you to know. I know that the best way to know, if you have a ABS on your car, Is to check the instrumental panel. If you have ABS light on your panel than you have ABS.
To those who don't have any ABS light will not have the ABS, Now to check if you have the ABS options there is a fuse box under the hood. If it has a ABS module or some ABS acuator, than your car is optional for, the ABS and the person has to intall it. IF you want to know if your was installed with ABS or not it's going to be hard to tell. I also, found out that the dealer MSRP sticker will tell you if, you had the option or it came stock. Some people are saying that if you have a manual and it's an SE it should come with it. I am not looking for opinions. The fact is where all the info is.
