I recently bought the APC 9007 upgrade/ battery direct harness. The more I read about people trying to use the 9007, the more it seems like a bad idea.
Have people upgraded just the harness and stuck with 9004? How long are people running over driven 9004 bulbs with upgraded harnesses before they burn out? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the effort to go 9007, or if it is just over hyped and dangerous to oncoming traffic.
BTW I have read all the previous posts, and am looking for some updated info or other peoples inputs. Tell us what you liked, disliked or both about setups you may have tried.

I have tried the over wattage 9004 and I ended up burning out my drivers side harness.
They were o.k., but at the time, I thought they were great.
I have used stock 9004 bulbs and they tend to last a long time. Light out put is not so good.
I just recently upgraded to a 9007 bulb. I cut the the ground wire and (high) I think it was and switched them. Adjusted the headlight down. Best way to go. So much more light. 55 watts (9007) vs 45 (9004).

Go with a regular 9007 setup. You might have to aim your lights down a bit more but it will put significantly more light on the road.

when you say you read previous posts, did you read the thread from a week ago that went through all this? I'm assuming no. Plus your post doesn't make sense. If you are going to do an upgraded harness for 9004's it's the same thing for a 9007 except for cutting wires. I've been running 2 years with upgraded 9007 harness and will go back to 9004's soon. IMO the 9007's really arn't worth it. But just my opinion. Everyone will fit against me.

Well there would be a difference genius, considering they're different wattages and the filaments are opposed. I did not read the post last week, sorry. I wanted to know if people (more than two) tried the 9004 with the harness and then the 9007 with harness, and also if they have problems with either. I don't have install questions. I know you switched back. That's half the reason I put this post up. I have seen the pictures js max, and it looks great from 2 ft. (more wattage more light) It seems to be a bit of a crap shoot as to whether or not people are able to aim them properly though. Your post is exactly the type of info I was hoping to get. I assume you're happy with the spread, no dark spots.

The 9007 conversion was probably the best mod that I've done to my max. I have both a 98 and 99. One has stock 9004 the other 9007, the difference is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I drive both at night, alternating them when I go to work. Also, I have no upgraded harness, I just flipped the 2 wires.
FYI -- Maxi stock wiring (guage) is the same size for both the 45w and 65 watt lighting circuits. So, it's sized for up to 65 watts at least. This means that going from a 9004 to 9007 bulb (rated at 55w lo, 65w hi) shouldn't cause issues for stock wiring.
People that try going with the over wattage bulbs likely will get into trouble if they don't add one of those relay adapter harnesses that draw power directly from the car's +12v battery circuit. Those 80/100w or higher bulbs draw significantly more current than stock bulbs...
